Ethiopia Sidamo from Path Roasters

Image
This is the second offering from Path I've tried.   Path is a new-ish micro-roaster (roasting coffee in small batches).   The first thing I noticed was that this Sidamo was not as dark in appearance of the bean as I've grown to expect from Ethiopian Sidamo.  The package says it has notes of "blueberry pie" and "lemon."  Can't say that I noticed that either of those flavors although I did taste "chocolate." I was happy enough with the taste.  So happy that I drank it three mornings in a row.  I appreciate Path sending me several of their coffees to try.  What a nice way to "vacation at home." Sunday Afternoon Tea

Image
This afternoon, I felt like "cleansing" my palate.  Too much Saturday night junk food.   Green tea always seems to calm my stomach and, maybe it's all in my head, but it's almost as if I can feel the toxins leave my body.   One thing that's not in my head, but in my nose, is the wonderful fragrance of Tazo "Zen" green tea  with lemongrass and spearmint. I love the "sachet" versus the tea bag and the taste is pretty good too!

"Where Do I Begin to Tell the Story of How Great a Love Can Be?" Capresso's Coffee Á La Carte

Image
Confession:  I was intimidated by this machine.  How could one machine make a single serve cup of coffee, without a K-Cup and brew a carafe of coffee without a filter? But once I overcame the fear, I was able to push through the process and enjoy the ease, simplicity and fabulous-ity of the Capresso Coffee Á La Carte ! The concept gently compresses the coffee and I found that it can make even a "mediocre" coffee taste better.  AND, it also brews tea! I've been testing it for a few weeks now, and I couldn't be more pleased.  In fact, I think it's going to be hard to use anything else. Just when I thought I couldn't love an automatic coffee maker more than my Capresso thermal , Capresso takes it up a notch. Feature and Benefits Quick-heat pump brewing system can brew first single cup in less than 60 seconds Brews 42 oz. carafe in less than 6 minutes Innovative brewing system adjusts automatically to the amount

Happy Bastille Day!

Image
What better way to celebrate French National Day than with French Roast coffee? And this Caribou Dark French Roast really is good.   My aunt, who lives in Minnesota, sent this to me since we don't have Caribou Coffee Shops where I live. Actually, she shipped it to Texas so that I could enjoy it on vacation, but I left it there and my daughter brought it back home when she returned yesterday. Coincidence?  I think not.  I would call it perfect timing that it would end up in my hands and in my new Capresso Coffee A La Carte , just in time for Bastille Day! Better than a baguette!

Reconnecting With A Long, Lost Friend!

Imagine my surprise when I walked into my mother-in-law's kitchen when I visited her in Texas a couple of weeks ago, and found my old " Coffee Beanery " mug sitting on her kitchen counter. I shrieked, "OH MY GOD, where did you find this?"  She said, "You must have left it here when you visited."  Honestly, I hadn't seen that mug in over a decade (at least).  In fact, I don't even remember where I got it.   I do remember having my niece (during her "puffy paint phase") stencil my name on it.  That mug was born before blogs!! What a wonderful treat to be able to drink from that mug this morning. One problem - the design doesn't fit on the dashboard or in the cup holders in the car. They just don't make anything like they used to! Happy Friday!!

Community Coffee Single Serve Cups - Café Special

Image
It's no secret that I love Community Coffee .   During a recent visit to Texas, I picked up a box of the new single serve cups designed for the Keurig (TM) technology in Kroger. I selected Café Special .  I brewed the single-serve cup using my Cuisinart Single-Serve brewer. The first cup I made using the 10 ounce cup selection.  This was a little too "weak" for my taste. For my second cup, I used the 8 ounce selection which gave me a stronger cup (my preference). While the single-serve cup is not my favorite brew method for Community Coffee , it is definitely a decent cup of coffee and a convenient and quick alternative to the brew method.   I'm biased - there's something about the pot of Community Coffee brewing, with the aroma wafting through the house, that makes me think of the South and all things Southern. I would like to try the Community Dark Roast Single Serve next! www.communitycoffee.com

"Feather In Cap" Espresso Blend from Path Coffee Roasters

Image
Like I said in my previous post, you just can't expect to get your good coffee news on the TV or radio these days. I'm grateful to the folks at Path Coffee Roasters in Port Chester, New York for turning me on to their micro roasted artisan coffee. The first blend I tried was the "Feather In Cap" Espresso Blend . I have to admit that the first time I tried it, it didn't really do it for me.  I think I was so preoccupied with getting ready for work on the day I had it, that I somehow didn't take the time to "smell the coffee," and allow the flavors to congregate on my palate. But this morning, while sitting at my computer, taking my time, and sipping on this cup of " Feather In Cap ," I'm pleased, delighted and thrilled to report - it's a winner. " Feather In Cap " Region:  Central America, Africa, Indonesia Notes:  Brown Sugar, Currant Buttered Toast It is much lighter in appearance than I expected from

All Time Favorite Coffee Jingles

Image
I have consumed a lot of coffee over the last couple of decades, but it's mainly through "trial and error," "word of mouth," or "pure luck," that I found those I've enjoyed the most. And, of course, the folks who reach out and let me know about the great coffees that are out there. But with micro roasters becoming more and more popular, and grocery store coffee being talked about less, even though many supermarket varieties are very good, I can't help but remember some of those jingles and television commercials that remain etched in my mind. Some of my favorite coffee jingles: "Good to the Last Drop" (TM) (Maxwell House) "Richness Worth A Second Cup" (TM) (Yuban) "The Best Part of Waking Up, Is Folgers In Your Cup" (TM) And, last but not least, drumroll. . . .my all-time favorite: "Fill It To the Rim With Brim" (TM) (Brim Decaffeinated Coffee) (special thanks to my sister for remin

What a way to start a vacation.   I walked into Starbucks and discovered the best coffee I have had in a while.  Kind of complex with nutty notes and smooth, smooth.  And very rich.  Don't miss it or you'll be sorry!
