"Ojercaibal, a small town in the department of Chimaltenango, means "old market" in the indigenous Kaqchiquel dialect. Most producers here grow coffee on small plots next to or near their homes so they can carefully monitor every stage of its development.

While Chimaltenango is a small, remote area west of Guatemala City, coffee producers there have benefitted from exporters and roaster-buyers who recognize the quality of their beans. With the price premiums their coffee generates, the producers have been able to build classrooms for the village school and provide clean water for the whole community."

All Time Favorite Coffee Jingles

I have consumed a lot of coffee over the last couple of decades, but it's mainly through "trial and error," "word of mouth," or "pure luck," that I found those I've enjoyed the most. And, of course, the folks who reach out and let me know about the great coffees that are out there. But with micro roasters becoming more and more popular, and grocery store coffee being talked about less, even though many supermarket varieties are very good, I can't help but remember some of those jingles and television commercials that remain etched in my mind.
