"The Chemex® coffeemaker was invented by Peter J. Schlumbohm, Ph.D., in 1941. Schlumbohm was born in Kiel, Germany in 1896. He received his doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Berlin. After several trips to the United States, he settled in New York City in 1936. Over the years, he invented over 3,000 items for which he was granted patents. However, his coffeemaker and carafe kettles were his most long enduring inventions."

Great coffee does not come quickly. That's why I don't use my Chemex every morning, but since today was Thanksgiving Eve, I thought I would take the extra time to make a darn good cup of coffee.

Today's blend "Thanksgiving" from Starbucks. How appropriate, huh?

All Time Favorite Coffee Jingles

I have consumed a lot of coffee over the last couple of decades, but it's mainly through "trial and error," "word of mouth," or "pure luck," that I found those I've enjoyed the most. And, of course, the folks who reach out and let me know about the great coffees that are out there. But with micro roasters becoming more and more popular, and grocery store coffee being talked about less, even though many supermarket varieties are very good, I can't help but remember some of those jingles and television commercials that remain etched in my mind.
