Starbucks 3 Region Blend 2013 - Buy It for the Packaging - Brew It For the Flavor

I couldn't remember if I liked the 3 Region Blend last year or not, so I kept passing it up in the bin at Starbucks.

Then I went back and looked over my blog posts, and realized that 3 Region (Latin America, Africa/Arabia and Asia/Pacific ) was one of my all-time Starbucks limited offering favorites.

Is fruity, scent-y, nutty, dark and delicious.  Is good.

p.s. - really "digging" this year's packaging

How Chamelon Cold Brew Made Me "The Most Popular Person In the Office"

Funny how coffee has a way of bringing people together.

Even funnier how "Chameleon Cold Brew" has a way of bringing all the cool people together.

For my review of Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee, I placed a bottle on the bar of the kitchenette on the floor, on the side of the building where most of the "hipsters" reside.  Mind you, I don't sit on that side of the building, but something told me that this little trial would soon make my name known to the folks with the newest phones and largest number of apps.

I also posted a little note saying that I would love to hear what people thought of this coffee.  Signed by, me, of course.  I included the warning that they should "dilute" it because it is extremely concentrated.  It contains 270 mg of caffeine per serving.

Result:  I had people coming over to my side of the building to my desk to say, "Is there more than one Dorothy or are YOU the one who put the coffee out?  That stuff is awesome!"

Chameleon Cold Brew is coffee in probably its purest form.  The cold press brew is almost like magic.

Pros:  Delicious coffee.

Cons:  May be habit forming and drinking too much (without diluting it) may give you the jitters.    You've been warned.  Use discretion when imbibing.

From the Chameleon Coffee Web Site:

"Chameleon Cold-Brew is handcrafted in Austin, Texas by a small group of dedicated coffeenistas and entrepreneurs.  We brew each batch low and slow for more than 16 hours at a controlled temperature to produce a super smooth, extra caffeinated concentrated coffee with less acid than traditional hot-brewed coffees.  We only use 100% organic, Fair Trade Arabica coffee beans and filtered water. The rest is up to you. Enjoy Chameleon hot or cold, black, undiluted in small amounts or mixed with your favorite flavors, creamers, or other additions — and it’s perfect for drinking at home, at the office or on the go. You can find Chameleon Cold-Brew in the refrigerated section of select grocers in convenient and recyclable 16oz and 32oz glass bottles."

*Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee provided me with a free sample of Chameleon Cold Brew for the purposes of preparing this review.

Goes Great With Coffee

My niece and her husband went on a European vacation and I got butter biscuits.

Way better than a tee-shirt and they go amazingly well with coffee.

These babies pair well with French Roast, Mocha Java, Cafe Au Lait, Espresso - heck, everything goes with butter, right?

They came from a bakery in Brussels called "Maison Dandoy" (Dandoy House) and the proper name for this cookie/biscuit/tasty treat is:  "Speculoos" I'm fairly certain translates to "awesome, decadent and downright delicious."

Traveling the Globe Without a Passport - Starbucks Reserve (TM) - FAIR TRADE TANZANIA HIGHLANDS

In about sixth grade, I remember learning about all the countries of the world.  One name that always stood out in my mind was "Tanzania."  Sort of up there with Constantinople in my memory bank of elementary school lessons.

I'm not sure why I liked the name so much.  I just did.  I mean, I didn't want to name my daughter Tanzania, but, you know what I mean.

Anyhow, who would have thought that all these years later, the name alone would draw me to the coffee?  Oh, sure, I really love Starbucks Reserve (TM) coffees, but lately, I've made an effort to try more medium blends.  But this package just called my name when I saw it on the shelf at my favorite Starbucks Clover store.

This coffee is so good I can hardly find the words to describe it.  I'm not saying it's the best coffee I've ever had, but it's certainly in the top 20 for sure.

I taste chocolate and flowers and fruit.  I once heard someone refer to coffee as "nectar of the gods."  They must have been talking about Tanzanian coffee.

Like all of the reserved coffees, it's a limited offering, so if I were you, I definitely wouldn't take my word for it - I'd experience it myself.

15.00 for an 8 ounce bag of beans.  17.00 if you're in Canada.

Mornings just got better.

"Tangy citrus notes with a blackberry fruitiness and chocolaty mouthfeel.
The grasslands of southern Tanzania, steeped with rivers and streams, are known for their large nature preserves and abundant wildlife such as Elephants, Lions, Leopards, and Buffalo. The temperate climate and moderate annual rainfall make this area an ideal spot to grow coffee.
This special Starbucks Reserve® coffee is in very limited supply and only available at select stores." (Starbucks)
