Coffee of the Day: Bonlife Coffee, Cleveland, Tennessee

Image
If you happen to be near Cleveland, Tennessee, you will want to add Bonlife Coffee Company to your list of places to go. Bonlife sent me a sample of their "Freedom Blend" which is a medium roast coffee, described on their website as: "Ethiopian earthiness and floral notes mix nicely with Sumatran fruit and spice in this complex, nuanced cup" It's a good cup of coffee. Medium body and quite pleasant. If you're not near Cleveland, Tennessee, despair not, you can order their coffees and accessories online at: http://bonlifecoffee.com/ AND, if you're not shopping for coffee, check out their website anyway. Amazing stories and photos. Not your average cup of joe. Have a great weekend!

K-Cup of the Day - "Emeril's Big Easy K-Cup"(TM)

Image
Is it me or are K-cups getting better? "Kick it up a notch." The "Emeril's Big Easy" dark-roast, K-Cup is for the person, who like me, enjoys getting their bold on! EXTREMELY enjoyable. I'm not kidding. One of the best K-Cups(TM) I've had. Goes down easy (pun intended). RRRRRRR is for ROAST and this one is roasted just right, measured to perfection and brews up nicely in the Keurig. Available at Cross Country Cafe . Phone: 1-888-774-6939

Happy 100th Birthday Julia Child

Image
Bonjour! In honor of what would have been Julia Child's 100th birthday, I baked a batch of homemade blueberry muffins this morning. They're not puff pastry, but for a Wednesday, it's not a bad effort, right? These muffins go so well paired with a hot cup of coffee. For me, it's San Francisco Blend from Martha & Bros. Coffee . This is what I like to call a "double-header." Although, now that I think about it, I probably should have brewed a French roast. There's only one solution - I'll have to eat another muffin and brew a pot of French Roast!

A Cup of Coffee and "The Closer"

Image
As many of you know, last night was the series finale of the TNT series, "The Closer." It held special meaning for me because when my mother was dying from cancer a few years ago, one of the few things I looked forward to during this period, when I wasn't looking forward to the inevitable, was Monday nights. It meant enjoying a good cup of coffee (sometimes tea)while watching, "The Closer." *spoiler alert* How ironic that in the next to the last episode Brenda Lee Johnson's (Kyra Sedgwick) mother died. I also like candy - a lot - just like Brenda Lee Johnson. That one hour escape on Monday nights probably helped save my sanity and provide a small bit of comfort. Funny how a television series based on a homicide unit could do that, huh? Sometimes it's the little things that bring us a tiny bit of relief. I'm going to miss "The Closer." Now, I just have to wait for the final season to be released on DVD. TNT - thanks for the good times.

JAMAICA-ME-WANNA-SHOUT! Starbucks Reserve (TM) Jamaica Blue Mountain (R)

Image
This is one of my top five favorite Jamaica Blue Mountain coffees. One of the Exotic, Rare and Exquisite Coffees from the Starbucks Reserve (TM) Collection . At $30 bucks for an eight ounce bag, it isn't cheap, but sure is worth it. The perfect balance of flavors, topped off with a chocolate finish. Life is short. And time is limited for this coffee. So, miss out. Excellent coffee. *(Starbucks provided me with a sample of Reserve Jamaica Blue Mountain for the purposes of preparing this review)

"Martha's Blend" - Just Like I Remembered It

Image
I'm no stranger to Martha & Bros. Coffees but I had forgotten just how much I enjoy this particular blend. Picked up a pound last week and it's almost gone! This "specialty blend" is a medium roast with hints of chocolate. Me love chocolate tones. Martha's Blend "Martha’s award-winning, exclusive blend combines Indonesian and Central American beans –each roasted separately – to yield the perfect cup of coffee." (www.marthabros.com) Martha & Bros has cafes all over San Francisco and offers a full selection of beans available to order online for your coffee enjoyment.

Cold Brew - Delivered To Your Door from Birch Coffee!

Image
"Cold Brew" is all the rage. But you don't have to brew your own or find a shop that uses the cold press method. That is, if you're a New Yorker. Birch Coffee is an independent coffee shop on East 27th Street (in the Gershwin Hotel). But you don't have to go there to get a "cold brew" because Birch makes local deliveries of their jugs of cold-brewed iced coffee directly to your door. Now, that's what I call service. Check out this cute video! The Tale of the Birch Coffee Jug: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzoyJYXAARA&feature=plcp Birch Coffee 5 East 27th Street New York, NY 10016 (212) 686-1444
