Starbucks Reserve (R) Brazil Fazenda Apucarana - Perfect for a Day of Rest

Image
STARBUCKS RESERVE (R) BRAZIL FAZENDA APUCARANA If Sunday is a day of rest, why not reserve some time for Starbucks Reserve (R) Brazil Fazenda Apucarana . I just happened upon this offering when I stopped at the Clover store the other night after work.  I wasn't really in the market for a bag of beans, I was just "browsing" to see what was new. While it doesn't make my list of favorite Starbucks Reserve (R) coffees , it's actually a very good cup of coffee.  Slightly more acidic than others that I've tried, but certainly has a nice complexion of flavors.  Chocolate-y, sort of "smoky," and while it's billed as a "medium roast," it definitely ventures more onto the dark side. I made the first cup with my electric brewer and the second cup with a Chemex (TM) pour over. At $12.95 for an eight ounce bag, it's slightly more than Starbucks regular coffees, but yet being offered at a price point that doesn't make it seem a

Peet's India Peaberry - Good Morning, World!

Image
Peet's India Peaberry ( Limited Offering ) I had to get up extra early this morning so I wasn't taking any chances. Broke out the big guns.   Peet's India Peaberry .  This limited edition roast is a deep, dark roast.  I love peaberry coffee and this one won't disappoint. It's pretty strong stuff.  Not for lightweights.  But perfect for people like me who  aren't exactly used to seeing 5:30 a.m.  It doesn't look half bad when you've got a coffee like this to help you cut through the fog. Wake up and smell the coffee!

No Wonder They Call It "Jacob's WONDERbar"

Image
Getting kind of stuck on Philz Coffee (if you hadn't noticed). Ever since they opened one closer to my house, I can't seem to stay away. The latest to make it to my morning repertoire is the dark and delightful "Jacob's Wonderbar." I'm a sucker for a good dark roast (or in this case, I'm a sipper). So smooth without any bitterness whatsoever. Packs a punch but doesn't knock you out - just sort of makes you "sit up!" What can I say?  I'm smitten. Jacob's Wonderbar Dark Roast from Philz

Sunday's Secret Single Serve

Image
What good does it do you for me to enjoy a new coffee and not be able to tell you about it? None, really.   Except to give you hope that there's something on the horizon that will really make you smile if you like the convenience of single-serve coffee. One of my very favorite roasters provided me with a " prototype ," if you will of a single serve coffee that is not quite ready to be unveiled.  I can't even show you the packaging! All I can say is this - it's worth the wait.  The measurement is perfect, there is no residue at the bottom of the cup and it stays super fresh. I tried a medium roast that was absolutely delicious. The secret - well, I can't tell you the whole secret, but I can tell you that they're going with a patented method to ensure the freshest, most true to roast flavor, from a single serve cup (a la K-Cup(TM)) model. That's all I can say right now.  But, I promise once I get the 'green light,' I'll giv
