All Time Favorite Coffee Jingles

I have consumed a lot of coffee over the last couple of decades, but it's mainly through "trial and error," "word of mouth," or "pure luck," that I found those I've enjoyed the most. And, of course, the folks who reach out and let me know about the great coffees that are out there. But with micro roasters becoming more and more popular, and grocery store coffee being talked about less, even though many supermarket varieties are very good, I can't help but remember some of those jingles and television commercials that remain etched in my mind. Coffee Review: Philz "Tesoro" Blend

For a coffee company that's only 10 years old, Philz has managed to create quite a buzz.  Born in San Francisco, the news is spreading and Berkeley is enjoying this hand-crafted, independent roaster as well. This was only my second or third visit to the Berkeley shop.  Parking is a little hard to find in this North Berkeley "gourmet ghetto," but the other morning I took a different route to work and pulled right into the perfect spot for the perfect cup. The pour-over method they use takes a little more time and patience than the usual "fill-er-up," so I opted for a half pound bag of beans which I ground up and brewed this morning.  There are also many other "Philz specials," including the Mint Mojito coffee that I'd like to try.  Another review for another day. Pilon Coffee

My sister went to Miami last week and brought me back - you guessed it - coffee! Pilon Coffee . I had never seen this brand before but apparently it's a staple in every household in Cuba. She brought me the "Pilon Gourmet Espresso." Don't be turned off by the word "espresso," it's a dark roast which can be used for drip or pour over. I won't lie to you and tell you it's not strong. It is. But it's good. However, I think I now know why Ricky Ricardo talked so fast!! Not planning a trip to Miami or Cuba soon? No worries.
